[Review] Loot Crate June 2017 Alter Ego Unboxing + $5 Discount!
Surprise, surprise! My very first Loot Crate box has arrived with many things that both surprised and disappointed me.
Something I came to realize and really love is how the Loot Crate company ships out international boxes earlier than domestic to let international subscribers receive their boxes at the same time as US citizens! Meaning, no spoilers and full of surprises! However, it does not work out the same for everyone and every other subscription services. My May Loot Tee has yet to arrive so I am pretty bummed about how this June box could come earlier than a May T-Shirt. Weird. Now, enough about shipping; onto the items!
One of the things that sets Loot Crate apart from other subscription services, is how they design each and every box to be able to transform into something for use or display. This month's CrateCraft turns our ordinary-looking box into G1 Optimus Prime's vehicle mode! Cool! I sincerely admire Loot Crate's designers for being able to pull off a transformable box every single month successfully! It just says so much about their effort in bringing more fun to their subscribers.
For the month of Alter Egos, we have a Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde pin. While Loot Crate claims the bonus loot comes with the pin, if you have an active subscription, you only need to login to find the code for your bonus under the Loot Pins section! Not sure why they market it this way, but heck, yay for bonuses! This month's bonus is the second version of Mighty Morphin's Green Ranger in the Power Rangers Legacy Wars mobile game.
Like many other subscription services, Loot Crate offers a wearable every month and this month, we got G1 Optimus Prime in his transformation sequence! What I like: Awesome G1 comic-style design. What I dislike: The colors. They simply look to childish and plain. If the art was brighter and more saturated to create contrast, it would have been amazing on a dark grey shirt.
Next, continuing from the things I hate, this is one of them. I apologize for the rants, but this bowl just simply speaks for itself. Who in Loot Crate thought having a green bowl and fat green fingers was a good idea? Having subscribers pay $42 for a box that has this as one of its items is not cool, Loot Crate!
Now, back to things I absolutely love about this box, is this cool DC Comics Poster Collection book. Even though I wish it could be bigger (it has the length and breadth of a comic book), the art featured in this book is simply fantastic. The pages are also designed to be removed easily for display purposes.
This book is easily the best item next to the final item. Introducing...
...the Black-and-White exclusive variant of Spider-Man's Q-Fig! This cool item features a newspaper article-like packaging and soft-rubbery webs for Spidey to swing around!
Two thumbs up for this awesome loot!

Comparing with Marvel Collector Corps, Loot Crate provides a wider variety of items and has more things to offer with their boxes (literally). The process of cutting and shaping a box into an object and the Secret Order of the Keys puzzles definitely adds a lot of great experiences to a simple subscription box. Even though I am not eligible for the puzzles' reward (to be honest, it's not much either) because I skipped the July crate, the puzzles were really fun to complete. However, in terms of items, I actually prefer MCC over LC. Even though MCC is more expensive to purchase and ship to Singapore, its items are more focused and overall, cooler in design compared to LC. Nevertheless, I'm definitely still looking forward to my next Loot Crate!
