[Review] Marvel Legends Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 2017 Titus Series Star Lord

Star Lord has always been in my top 3 favorite cast of awesome outlaws from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.1. But because of how odd he looked in Marvel Legends form back in 2014, I've been waiting so long to see if the Vol.2 version will be better and now, the wait is finally over. Without further ado, let's take a closer look at this stellar (see what I did there?) figure!

 Front and back of packaging

 Side of packaging

Star Lord features a crazily detailed soft plastic jacket and very accurate sculpt and paint details. He comes with both masked and unmasked heads and two guns for accessories.

Both Vol.2 Star Lord's masked and unmasked heads are great improvements compared to their Vol.1 counterparts. Unlike their predecessors, the sculpts' features, details and paints are all much more accurate. The unmasked head's likeness to Chris Pratt, the actor who plays Peter Quill, is a definite win as well (especially from the side).

Though Vol.2 Star Lord comes with a handful of accessories, his headphones and cassette player were not included. Bummer.

On the side of Star Lord's hips, are pegs to hold his guns. This is pretty much the downside for the otherwise perfect Star Lord figure. Moving his hips forward or outward sideways will cause the guns to push against the waist and pop off. It would've been great if there were holsters or removable pegs so that the pegs wouldn't stick out in such an unnatural way.

Articulation

 Ball-jointed head and hinged neck

Shoulder swivel and hinge, bicep swivel, double-jointed elbow and wrist swivel and hinge

 Ab crunch

Waist swivel, ball-jointed hips, thigh swivel, double-jointed knees, shin swivel and ankle pivot and rotation

Star Lord's widest stance with both feet flat on the ground

Overall, this figure is truly awesome for fans who have been waiting for an affordable, screen-accurate Star Lord since the first movie. The unmasked head is also a great reason to get this figure and replace the Vol.1 version (keep the headset and cassette player though!). Other than the unsightly pegs on his hips, there's really nothing to complain about for this figure. However, as seen in the movie, Star Lord does don a jet-pack during the battle against the alien octopus. That said, if you're planning on getting this figure, you might want to wait and see if Hasbro does release a Star Lord with Jet-Pack figure in the future.
