[Review] Marvel Legends X-Men 2017 Warlock Series Wolverine (Old Man Logan)

One of the most popular version of Wolverine has finally made its debut in plastic! With the upcoming Logan movie featuring an old Logan, it's only right for us to get an Old Man Logan now (although its design is based on the comics). Without further ado, let's take a closer look at his design.

 Front and back of packaging

Damn Hasbro, Logan wouldn't be happy to see you call him Wolverine.

Side of packaging

Old Man Logan features an entirely new body sculpt and a soft plastic jacket.

Hasbro really seemed to have stepped up their game with recent Marvel Legends figures in terms of the paint details for their eyes. They're now a lot sharper and neater than before. The wrinkles and frown details portray the old and stern look of Logan really well. I mean, just look at his mouth! That much attention to detail deserves an applause. The jacket's paint is well done too. The rough texture and nice mild black wash and gloss does well in simulating leather.

Given how the Wolverine from the previous X-Men wave had bent claws caused by the way it was packaged, you'd expect Hasbro to learn and package Logan in a better pose. However, Hasbro did not. Even so, it is a minor gripe that can be fixed with a hairdryer or warm water. The belt buckle is painted gold which is a nice touch for such a small detail.

The sculpt details on his jeans and shoes are fantastic as well.

Articulation

 Ball-jointed head and hinged neck

Shoulder swivel and hinge, bicep swivel, double-jointed elbow and wrist swivel and hinge

 Ab crunch

Waist swivel, ball-jointed hips, thigh swivel, double-jointed knees and ankle pivot and rotation

Logan's widest stance with both feet flat on the ground

A difference with Logan's ankle joints compared to most Marvel Legends figures is that it is double-jointed; a ball joint connects the end of the pants to the ankle pivot. This allows the feet to swivel, providing more range of articulation for the feet.

Overall, this figure is really great! Its scale, posture, details, paint and sculpt are all perfectly done. The only thing that disappoints me is the lack of accessories. For a figure that costs $39.90 at regular retail stores, it is just not worth the price. Even though I did say that most of the budget are used to help characters with new molds in my previous review, a pair of clawless hands or a shouting-expression head shouldn't cost affect much. However, as it stands, this figure's playability is good enough as it is but only if you can get it at a reasonable price.
